Dr. Bolanle Olorunyomi is a public health leader and nutrition advocate with a PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. She currently serves as the State Nutrition Officer for Ekiti State and Secretary of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition, where she coordinates cross-sectoral nutrition initiatives in partnership with government stakeholders and international development partners.
Dr. Olorunyomi is a Fellow of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG), having recently completed her third leadership programme. Her commitment to excellence in public service is matched by a strong foundation in leadership, policy, and governance. Over the years, she has built meaningful relationships and social capital within Ekiti State, using these networks, combined with her sectoral expertise, to drive reforms of statewide and national relevance.
A key achievement of her leadership includes contributing to the successful advocacy and passage of a progressive bill that approved six months of paid maternity leave and two weeks of paternity leave in Ekiti State. This landmark policy, which supports, promotes, and protects breastfeeding, positioned Ekiti among the first four Nigerian states to implement such a measure. Her strategic advocacy also played a vital role in securing increased state financing for nutrition programs and in the designation of the First Lady of Ekiti State as the State Nutrition Champion.
Dr. Olorunyomi is a transformational leader, visionary, confident, and action-oriented. She brings unmatched expertise in nutrition governance, strategic advocacy, and public health systems, making her an invaluable mentor to the Food Security Insights Capstone Project and a powerful catalyst for sustainable change.
