Idowu O. Ejere leads the Food Security Insights Capstone Project with a rare blend of strategic vision, policy expertise, and digital acumen. As Capstone Project Lead and Lead of the Web & IT Workstream, she spearheaded the platform’s concept, architecture, content flow, and design, ensuring it delivers timely, data-driven insights for real-world impact.
Idowu is a PhD candidate in Policy and Strategic Studies at the University of Abuja and a 2025 Fellow of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG). She holds a Master’s degree in Globalisation and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Igbinedion University, and a Diploma in Entrepreneurship from Cornell University. She also holds executive certificates from Harvard Kennedy School, China Agricultural University, and UNITAR.
With over 15 years of experience in agricultural research and development across Africa, Idowu has served in a diplomatic capacity, leading high-level policy advocacy, program design, and multi-stakeholder coordination in agriculture and food security. She previously worked as Chief Technical Assistant to IFAD, seconded to the Ministry of Agriculture in Sierra Leone; contributed technical expertise to the ECOWAS Regional Agricultural Policy Programme (WAPP); and led Communication and Public Awareness at the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).
Idowu is also Co-founder of Esteem Royale and Refuge Fund, a Fellow of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI), an Associate Fellow of WIMBIZ, and a member of AWID and the Female Founder Collective (FFC). She is a published author and advocate for women’s rights.
